Nier was probably the type of game that few people got to really enjoy, mostly because of the obscure nature of the previous games and its director Yoko Taro. Even though the game has sold incredibly well, and possible sequels/franchise/spin-off/whatnot are in the works, there was far less people who played Nier: Replicant or Drag-On Dragoon (Drakengard is US) than, say, Street Fighter (Capcom), Final Fantasy (Square Enix), Metal Gear (Konami) or other Japanese based games.
People could go on for hours about the meaning of this and the meaning of that in the game, but this review isn't about the game, it's about the music. And damn...it is some freakin' amazing music. I happened to be in Japan when the game and this concert happened visiting family and there is something special about the music in Nier. If you've played the game, you know what to expect. By far the best game of 2017 for me, by a huge margin and the music was absolutely brilliant in it. Okabe Keiichi (composer) has often worked with Emi Evans to do the vocals in these games and for the most part the vocals are done great with the addition of J'Nique Nicole and Kawano Marina. I will say, the one missed opportunity on this was the lack of use of Ms. Kawano. I enjoyed her version of Weight of the World/壊レタ世界ノ歌 more than the others and thought the solo version would have been more appropriate for her. That version of the song was very popular in Japan when the game came out and charted very well, if I remember correctly, on music charts.
The concert is fairly long with some short narratives from the voice actors (Ishikawa Yui as 2B and others...although 2B alone is enough because she is awesome :)
There are also some various alternative versions of the concerts that took place in other venues with slightly varied stories, but the concert is all the same content in terms of music.
I will say, for me as a personal taste, there was a few songs I would have liked to have seen included, the biggest one being 愚カシイ兵器 (Foolish/Stupid Weapon, I'll get to the translation shortly...) I really enjoyed the various arrangements of that song, especially the 乙・甲 version, I believe that was Medium/Dynamic translation.
I highly recommend getting the import OST. The entire soundtrack is very well done.
Quick note on the translations of the songs (nothing to do with the concert, just some personal thoughts). I understand the official translations of the songs are given in English, however for the life of me, I can't understand why some of the translations are done the way they are. For example, the previously mentioned "Orokashii heiki" (translated as "Wicked Weaponry" in English version), the word 'orokashii' doesn't mean "wicked" as it's translated on the English version. 'Oroka', 'orokashii' mean stupid or foolish. My (Japanese) wife also could not think of any situation where 'orokashii' would be used as "wicked", so I guess there some artistic or cultural reason they decided to change the translation. It's interesting to see how things like this get translated as some of it can carry totally different meanings. Like this, "Stupid weapon" versus, "Wicked Weaponry" give a totally different output on what the item is. One can be seen as pitiful (stupid), while the other is evil (wicked). Another song that I really like, but the translation was strange was イニシエノウタ ('inishie no uta' lit. meaning "Old/Ancient Song"). The English translation was "Song of the Ancients" (古人の歌). Again, a different word and context of the translation. Well, I'm not paid to translate professionally for Square, although that would be a killer job, but I damn I enjoy their games.
I've gabbed long enough. Pick this up, very well done and beautiful concert.

Everything came in a nice package and there was no worry about damage to the disc. Shouldve looked closer and saw there would be no English Subtitles-- nothing the seller can control though.
