I already own the DVD, but the quality is so poor (even when I watch it on my blu ray player), I decided to get the blu ray. Normally, I don't have an issue with low picture quality, but the DVD of this series is probably ome of the few exceptions. The quality and sound of the blu ray is 1000× better that the DVD. There are some minor complaints, but it comes down to whoever did the translations (seriously, who thought they should use "Sichel" in place of Zehel?).

I will say the anime gives us a little more time with certain characters than the manga does. The "final" battle is also a bit different in the anime than the manga. Of course, there are a few filler episodes sprinkled in, but they're enjoyable nonetheless and help flesh out the bonds between characters.

The anime has an open-ending or cliffhanger, depending on how you see it. If you want to continue the series, you'll have to pick up the manga (volume 5 is where you'll want to start). I really wished they had continued the anime -- for those who aren't aware, it was canceled -- but I understand this is something of an underrated anime, especially back in the time it was released. Sadly, I don't see this getting a continuation anime-wise. Fortunately, the manga is finished and all the volumes have been translated and released.

The slip cover is basically the DVD cover, but the actual cover of the blu ray is much nicer and comes as reversible.

The Blu-Ray offers 1920 x 1080 which is higher than any other source online. Spread across 2 disks totally at 77.4 GB. This wasn't released in the UK, with most of the stock coming from either the US or Japan.

On the other hand, some strange subtitling such Sickel instead of Scythe or Sichel from Zehel. Nothing too much to distract from enjoyment.
