End of the Century is one of the great ones! From start to finish. It is a little difficult to follow if you' not paying close attention, because they switch from now, to the past, to a probable future concerning the relationship between the two main characters.
But, once you catch on, the whole movie is a joy to experience. It concerns two men who had a brief relationship many years ago, then meet up in the present, and then offer a possible future involvement.
That's not what's so great about the film, however. It's about conversations, intelligent, meaningful conversations between two men, and they don't muck it up, like so many films do, with endless music and music interludes to manipulate the audience as to how they should feel about what's being said.
They do have some pretty graphic sex in the film, but it does not at all feel that it's added onto tweak the audience. Rather, you get the feeling that sex is a natural part of the character's communication, as an adjunct to their verbal exchanges.
The city of Barcelona serves as a great backdrop to the action, and you find yourself really caring about the two men and their relationship and where it will lead. It's hard to predict at times, but that's all part of the fun to see what they will do from what they have communicated to eachother throughout the film.
Looking forward to watching this film again to see what I missed.
Very well done but the timeline was a bit confusing. The two short films as added features were very interesting, and both in English which was a surprise. Roger.
